Tutorial: How to make a sequenced photoset

*Due to numerous requests I’ve decided to make this tutorial, if you used my tutorial please could you like the post so I get a jist of how many people used/are going to use it.

* The purpose of this tutorial is to guide you through making a photoset much like this. The process isn’t exactly difficult, but rather time consuming and requires a bit of logic.

*Please do not steal this tutorial and claim it as you own.

*The rest is under the cut~!!

    1. You can make a sequence of 9 gifs which each of them have their own clip and then come all together to make a big gif (if you don’t understand what I mean, see this).
You can also make a six gif sequence.
    2. For this tutorial I shall be making a 9 box photoset sequence. So that if you know how to make this, you can also make a 6 box one as well.
    3. First of all make your nine separate gifs. You can colour and sharpen them but do not ‘save them for devices’.
    4. Your screen should look a little like this
    5. Now we shall create the transition from black bg to the actual gif.
    6. Repeat ‘Step 5’ for the end of the gif but in reverse. You do not need to create a new layer for the black background, however the last frame should have an opacity of ‘30%’ and the second-to-last frame should have an opacity of ‘60%’. Afterwhich you should create a new frame to the existing gif animation with only a black bg and duplicate that two times. So that your animation frame should look like this:
Also if you were to preview it … it would look like this:

  1. Do that same for all your other 8 gifs. So that all of them transition ‘black background’ -> ‘gif’ -> black background
  2. Now the maths starts, so for example we have gif1, gif2, gif3,….,gif9. Say these gifs each have 16 frames now.
We now need to add the appropriate number of black frames at the end and beginning of each gif to create the sequence effect.
  3. Add all the gif frames together and we get (9 x 16 =) 144 frames. So for ‘gif1’ we add (144 - 16 =) 128 black frames to the end of it’s animation to create 144 frames.
  4. Then for ‘gif2’ we add 16 black frames before the animation and then (128 - 16 =) 112 frames after the animation.
  5. This carries on to the last gif (‘gif9’) where we have no frames to add after it yet 128 black frames to be put before it.
  6. NOTE: The total number of frames really depends on how many frames are in each of however many gifs, in most cases you’ll need to manually count and add all the frames together and then also use common sense to add the required number of black frames before and after a certain gif.
  7. AT THE END OF THE PROCESS ALL OF THE GIFS SHOULD HAVE THE SAME NUMBER OF FRAMES. IT DOESN’T MATTER HOW MANY FRAMES EACH GIF HAD BEFORE ‘STEP 8’, BY NOW THEY SHOULD ALL HAVE THE SAME NUMBER OF FRAME
  8. Your animation bar should look a little like this (with a lot more black frames that frames consisting of your actual gif)

Now that we’ve created the sequence of the 9 small gifs. We have to create the mega gif to be stuck on at the end.

  1. Create a big gif of 500X500px size.
  2. Colour it and sharpen it as you may.
  3. Then perform steps 5 & 6 with this big gif as you did with the small individual gifs to create the transition effect.
  4. You screen should look a little like this
  5. So imagine we take our huge gif and partition it to how it would look as a photoset. Then see which gifs would have which part.
  6. Now we crop 150x150px of the first section of the gif. To give us the “GIF1” portion of the original gif.
  7. Using the portioned gif, we do the following:
  8. Repeat Step 6 & 7 with the other portions and adding them to their respective gifs.
  9. After all 9 gifs have been made they should all have the same number of frames.
  10. Finally you can save them as gifs and upload them as a photoset and hope it works~!!
